Tsubaki Cam Clutch is a sprag type one way clutch that is a leader in its class. The one way clutch was developed originally from Ratchet clutch that became the Roller ramp clutch that finally became the Tsubaki Cam Clutch, similar to the sprag type one way clutch. The Tsubaki Cam Clutch provides longer life to the clutch mechanism than other types of one way clutches. Principal of Lift-Off
The cam engages between inner and outer race when Cam Clutch is stationary. The cam keeps no contact when the inner race, which is load side overruns at a high speed. The cam contacts to inner and outer race when the inner race (load) rotating speed becomes slow, and the outer race can drives the inner race (load) at a slow rotation speed. The cam can keep no contact between the inner and outer races during the normal machine operation to get long wear life.
